Kuwait's Grand Mosque
Located in the heart of the city, the Kuwait’s Grand Mosque, also referred to as Al-Masjid Al-Kabir, is a wonderful site with traditional Islamic architecture, and is the largest official mosque in Kuwait.

Spanning a total area of 45,000 square meters, the building covers about 20,000 square meters. The main prayer hall is 72meters wide on all sides, with 21 teakwood doors, and 144 windows. The construction of the Mosque, which began in 1979, was completed in 1986.
The dome of the Mosque is 26 meters in diameter and 43 meters in height, and has the capacity to accommodate about 10,000 men in the main prayer hall. There is a separate hall for women, with maximum capacity to accommodate 950 women. In the beautiful ceiling dome, are painted the words “Ama al-hosna”, which implies the 99 names of God, as revealed in Quran, the religious text of Islam.
The Mosque also houses an Islamic Library spanning 350 square meters. The Mosque offers a 5-level car park to accommodate nearly 550 cars.
