Government project visa transfers of expats suspended

The Director of Manpower Public Authority, Jamal Al Doussary, said that a suspension on transfer of expat government project visa began on 1st January. He confirmed that there would be no exceptions, as the decision aims to organize the labour market and fight visa traffickers, particularly as the work permits would be re-opened in a few days.

Once the work permits are re-opened, there will be no need to transfer government project visas as employers will have the opportunity to issue work permits and bring fresh labour from abroad.

The main aim of the decision is to fight visa traffickers who bring labourers on government projects to transfer them, and then bring more, take advantage of poor expats who seek better job opportunities.

The Chairman of Egyptian Labourers’ and Farmers’ rights Council, Hossam Foudah emphasized that Egyptians in Kuwait are awaiting for the visit of President Abdulfatah Al Sisi to Kuwait, which may result in cancellation of sponsorship system and prioritization of Egyptian manpower in major development projects in Kuwait.

MP Saleh Ashour has already made several inquiries to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khaled about visa traffickers and Ministry’s measure against them so far.
