Big Five Kuwait Expo 2014 likely to draw huge global interest

More than 200 exhibitors from across the globe are likely to showcase their products at the Big Five Kuwait Expo, to be held from 22nd to 24th September this year.

At least a dozen country pavilions, including those from Turkey, Germany, Italy, Spain are likely to be set up at the Kuwait International Fair, said the organizer of the event, dmg Events Middle East.

The global interest in the expo is mainly because of the growing construction opportunities in Kuwait, they said.

The Kuwait market has been seeing solid growth in recent years, with construction values hitting new high of $17.5bn this year, in comparison to just $9.8bn during 2011, pointed out Patrick Gedeon, the Project Manager of the event.

Major construction sectors featured at The Big Five Kuwait include materials, HVAC equipment and a range of plant, machinery and vehicles.

The Big 5 in Dubai is the largest and best participated construction expo in the MENA region, said Gedeon.

“This is our second edition in Kuwait, and this year, the focus is on educational features and introducing more international pavilions,” he said.

Thousands of local and international construction products are on display and being demonstrated around the show. The show would be the ideal opportunity for local companies to get an idea of latest products available from around the world. The show’s debut in 2013 in Kuwait was a success, and this year, new educational and interactive features will kick-start the show on 22nd September.

First up will be the Facilities Management (FM) Congress for the show, to be chaired by Mick Dalton from IFMA Foundation and will include keynote address from the Kuwait Ministry of Public Works. Local and international speakers from lead companies will be drawn to present a range of case studies, including the USD6.3bn Sabah Al Salem University mega project.

The two day program will include the popular Project Management workshop and introduction to Leed, said Gedeon.

A new interactive feature named ‘Round Table Zone’ will host open-forum sessions that allow visitors to discuss the hottest construction topics in Kuwait, while also networking with industry peers and mentors. Issues include building standards and regulations in the region applicable to Kuwait market, new opportunities in Kuwait industrial sector and effective outsourcing of FM contracts. Although these events are free to attend, places are limited. Therefore, potential participants need to register beforehand at www.big5kuwait.com/reg/
