Turkey top holiday destination for Kuwaitis

Turkey continues to be one of the top holiday destinations for Kuwaitis. According to Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in Dubai, Kuwaitis visiting Turkey have grown by 28 percent during the first quarter of the year, in comparison to same period last year. Turkey, therefore, seems to be one of the most popular holiday destinations for GCC nationals.

According to Mustafa Ozdemir, Culture and Information Attache, Cultural and Information Office Turkish Consulate General in Dubai, Turkey remains a popular destination, not only for GCC, but also globally.

The GCC contributes 5 percent to Turkey’s tourism revenue, with Kuwait being one of the highest contributors. GCC and Turkey both have cultural and historical ties and this is evident in the growth of tourists over the past year. Residents are choosing the country depending on locality, cost and historical richness.

Last year, Turkey drew more than 39million tourists, making it the sixth most popular tourist destination in the world. Istanbul remains most popular city for GCC tourists to visit in Turkey, while Bursa, Bodrum, Antalya are all fast growing to be destinations of choice, particularly during peak summer months of July and August.

In order to further increase visitors and highlight Turkey to Kuwait, we will seek opportunities to invest in tourism in order to foster sustainable growth and mutual understanding between two countries, Ozdemir said.
