Jahra Reserve to be transformed into semi-park for visitor entry

The Director General of Environment Public Authority, Dr Salah Al-Mudhi, has revealed that the Jahra Reserve in Kuwait would soon be converted into a semi-park, allowing entry of visitors.

This reflects the keenness of EPA on development of natural reserves to maintain balance and biodiversity.

Visitors are allowed entry for the purpose of documentation, photography and practicing bird-watching hobby, adhering to certain controls.

Al-Mudhi confirmed that EPA is eager to develop reserves in Kuwait, and is making efforts to protect animals and plants that are threatened with extinction by relocation and preservation of their kinds.

The size and nature of reserves in the country has touched 19 percent, after it was just 3 percent, indicating that it will touch 25 percent following completion of new reserves.

He further explained that the large size of the reserves has led EPA to propose the establishment of an independent body to manage them so as to keep pace with the process of development.
