Asians constitute majority of Kuwaiti population

The population of Asians in Kuwait have far surpassed Kuwaiti nationals, revealed statistics at the end of 2013.

Kuwaitis constitute only 31.3 percent of total population, which is considerably less than 37.8 percent of expats from Asian countries, constituting slightly less than one-third of total population.

By 31st December 2013, Kuwait has been home to 3,965,022 people, nationals and foreigners, marking increase of 2.63 percent over the 2012 figures, when 3,824,000 people lived in northern Arabian Gulf State.

The number of nationals was 1,242,490, marking an increase from 1,211,906 in 2012. Kuwaiti women outnumbered men with a slight difference.

By the end of the year, 2,722,532 foreigners constituting 68.7 percent of total population, were recorded, out of which, Asian communities dominate 1,499,929 people.

Statistics indicate that Kuwait is home to 76,698 Africans, particularly 68,346 women, while men are 8,352.

The number of Europeans in Kuwait as revealed by statistics were 15,641, North Americans were 21,512, Australians were 1706, and expats from South America were 1431 in number.
