Ministry to introduce new strategy to address housing issue

A new mechanism for addressing the housing issue will be completed soon, and it will be referred to the National Assembly in December, the State Minister for Housing and Municipal Affairs, Salem Al-Utheina revealed in a recent press statement in Kuwait.

Al-Utheina said that the new mechanism offers the necessary solutions that are in-line with the capabilities of the nation. He further affirmed that it includes the housing needs of nationals, while the comments of lawmakers and experts too have been taken into consideration.

Meanwhile the sources said that the housing projects that were ready for implementation earlier will be submitted as one batch, indicating that official letters have been addressed to the Ministers of Oil, Defense, and Finance to allocate land areas under their jurisdiction and to remove all obstacles to guarantee the execution of these projects.

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has its own concept on the minimum level of projects, whose implementation will be extended until 2016. A total of 14,079 units would be distributed towards end of 2014, including houses and residential apartments in Sabah Al-Ahmad City, Khairan, Northwest Sulaibikhat, Jaber Al-Ahmad City, Abu Halifa and Sabahiya.

These units will be offered in collaboration with the private sector, which will greatly help by reducing the waiting period for housing grant applications by at least 50 percent.
