Airport taxis implement new increased tariff

The Kuwait International Airport taxi services have increased its tariff and the new tariff is between KD4 (for areas near airport) and KD20 (for border areas).

A taxi from the airport to Hawally or Salmiya, now costs KD7. The approval for the increase came from the Directorate General Civil Aviation, a few months after the airport taxis already implemented the increased tariff.

Airport taxis had been planning increase in fares since last year. The taxi operators note that their original tariff was introduced in 1991. However, with increased cost of living in Kuwait, and in the light of increased maintenance and cost of spare parts, it is now necessary to increase the fares.

According to a local newspaper, the new tariffs are 50 percent higher, in comparison to the old ones, but, are less than limousine rates by KD2 to KD10.
