New law likely to limit expat residency transfer

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labours plan to introduce a new regulation that prohibits transfer of residency more than twice, among expatriate workers.

The period for processing of transfer will be based on the deal between the old and new sponsor, and the expatriate worker will not be allowed to transfer the third time.

The Ministry believes that such a measure will reduce the number of expatriates in the country, particularly the marginalized workers.

Ministry is also considering the possibility of limiting the issuance of Article 18 visa only to university graduates, whose fields of specialization may not be related to their jobs.
