Kuwait Fifth Ring Road officially renamed after Late Sheikh Zayed

Kuwait has officially renamed the Fifth Ring Road as Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Road.

The Minister of Electricity and Water and Ministry of Works, Abdul Aziz Al Ebrahim, said that all signs have been fixed to indicate the new name of this important road in Kuwait City.

The re-naming has been done as per instructions from the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad, and this is a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for the commendable efforts and remarkable achievements and outstanding role played by Late Shaikh Zayed in the service of the Gulf, Arab and Islamic nations.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet, in February this year, announced that it was renaming the Ring Road in honour of the late UAE leader. This was much appreciated by Shaikh Zayed as the principal driving force behind the formation and prosperous development of the UAE, the first President of the country.

After he passed away in 2004, several avenues, towns and buildings in the Arab and Islamic worlds have been renamed after him as a sign of recognition and gratitude.
