Second construction expo gets underway in Kuwait

The second exhibition of Industries and Construction involving participation of 43 large companies and government agencies got underway yesterday. The event was officially unveiled by the Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of Trade and Industry, Anas Al-Saleh, and the Chairman and Managing Director of National Industries Company, Adel Al-Subeeh.

Among the participating agencies are, the General Organization for Housing Welfare, Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait Municipality, Public Authority for Industry and Savings and Credit Bank (SCB).

SCB is participating in the exhibition to highlight the role played by the bank since early sixties, and its contribution to the implementation of construction projects such as building low-income houses in Jahra, Riqa and Mina Abdullah, apart from Mosques and schools, until establishment of Public Authority for Housing in 1974.

Al-Subeeh said that the Municipality continues its responsibility in preserving the historical identity and heritage of the country by creating a special department for country’s structural diagram and implementation of some projects such as renovation of Souk Al-Mubarikiya.

Al-Subeeh said that efforts are being made to develop Kuwait City into a model City, through partnerships with Arab Towns Organization, based in Kuwait. The main obstacles in this path is the delay in land allocation and validity course, he pointed out.

He said that Kuwait is entering a construction renaissance and is likely to have more than 60,000 housing units within next four years, apart from railway station, labour cities, Boubyan International Port and several other projects.

The Director of Media and Public Relations at the General Organization for Housing Welfare, Tahani Al-Azmi, said that the organization throws light on the latest enterprise projects with detailed explanation about its new housing projects such as Saad Al-Abdullah City and Jaber Al-Ahmad, Northwest Sulaibikhat, Khiran, Sabah Al-Ahmad City, Mitlaa and other new projects.

The Deputy Director General of the Export Development in the Public Authority for Industry, Saqer Al-Anexi said that the exhibition is of great significance due to various reasons, including the fact that it has made the National Industries Company, one of the industrial companies in Kuwait, organize it.
