Ministry to grant visas for university degree holders and tech qualified

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour is on the process of issuing work permits for people with university degrees and those holding technical qualifications in vital sectors that are most important for the country.

This activity will be specified in the Ministerial Decree Number 136/2001, along with other administrative circulars being attached in this regard. These activities have been specified for issuance of work permits for employers’ recruiting expat workers. The list of names of applicants would be forwarded to the in-charge committee for approval.

The conditions specified in the Ministerial decree are applicable to companies with capital not less than half a million dinars, and not more than one million dinars, as in Memorandum of Association. Moreover, the company should have been in existence for more than two years.

It includes companies on the Bourse, and closed joint stock companies with capital not more than one million dinars, employees working on government contracts and government-owned establishments, including medical centres, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, laboratories, banks and insurance companies.

The list also includes exchange companies approved by Kuwait Central Bank and Holding Companies, agents of airlines, car dealers, rental and leasing companies for aircraft, and companies classified in category A and B, as providers, by Kuwait Municipality.

It also covers companies classified by Central Tenders Committee, authorized dealers for international brands, companies specialized in fire services, and health clubs and institutes.

The decision permits issuance of work permits to cattle owners, goldsmith, Security guards of investment and commercial real estate companies.

Meanwhile, other categories of professions will be added to the list based on decision by Ministry’s Undersecretary and Committee for Work Affairs.
