Works Ministry plans KD21mn worth road projects to ease traffic

The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) is working towards creating several intersections at entry and exit points of Jahra governorate. The project is worth a total of KD21mn, said Dr. Fadhel Safar, Minister of Public Works and Planning.

The project includes creating entry and exit points to Saad Al-Abdullah City, to ease traffic movement, taking into account the crowd in the area. The newly formed township will be completely occupied by nationals. Another intersection is at Mangaf, which will be opened within a week or two.

The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) plans to resolve the traffic crisis in conjunction with the Municipality and Traffic Department in three phases. The first method is to ease traffic jam by opening roads and roundabouts. Other projects too are planned to create roads in various parts of the country.

The ideal solution for solving traffic issues is the application of strategy approved by Council of Ministers, said Dr. Safar.

The Al-Qairawan intersection is another vital roads project that the Ministry is executing, while also meeting other intersections at Mangaf intersections. The Ministry is working towards finalizing Al-Quraiwan road project by mid-September.

Projects will be created in neighbouring areas too, as per Ministerís strategy, and these intersections will help alleviate traffic snag. Tunnels and bridges will be created, in addition to creating roundabouts over and below bridges.
