Municipal Council grants approval for free zone in South Kuwait

The Municipal Council in Kuwait has granted approval for creation of a free zone in South Kuwait, but, has sought relevant design details, in-line with criteria and conditions set out for free zones.

Such a move was taken during the council session held on Monday, said Deputy Chairman, Municipal Council, Jassar al-Jassar. A suggestion to allocate an area for housing waste landfill was also put forward by members of the council. They also suggested establishing of a fact-finding committee to look into a site for tire collection at Rahiya in North Kuwait. The Council has sought scrapping the existing site used for tire collection in the south-western area. Furthermore, a proposal to develop small Mosques along speedways was approved by the session.

The Council also discussed removal of transmission towers that violated the municipality regulations. The Municipal Council, has however, rejected the idea of transforming an area in Khaitan from an investment housing area into a commercial housing area, apart from re-naming of Ghaws Street after Awazim’s tribal leader, Falah Bin Lam’e, and establishment of residential areas and nurseries.
