Barbecue in public places can draw KD1000 fine

Kuwait has strictly announced a fine of KD1000, if people barbecue in public locations. The Director-General of Kuwait Municipality, Ahmad Al-Sebeeh, mentioned that the authority has realized that some nationals and residents have not been abiding to the rules of public cleanliness, due to soft penalties imposed. Hence, there is increased need for such fines in case of violations.

Some specific locations are chosen for barbecuing, including 144 public parks. Grilling is restricted only to these places. The teams from Municipality will monitor the violations, urging the nationals and expatriates to abstain from damaging public properties, including seaside green spots, with such random barbecuing practises and dumping of ashes on plants and littering.

The State invests millions of dinars on beautification of public spots for well-being of the people, and such properties must not be targeted to such harmful practices, he pointed out.
