Work permit, transfer applications suspended temporarily
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour has announced that the processing of transfer applications will be suspended, while work permit applications for government projects may not be accepted, beginning 25th December, for a two week period, to carry out inventory and organizing tasks.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Jamal Al-Dosari has issued a circular to all labour departments. The labour departments will, however, issue work permits to those applying for the first time, renew residence, and will process residence cancellation application.
The step is being taken in-line with Article 11 of Law No.6/2010, which permits the Ministry to suspend work permit issuance for a maximum of two weeks for inventory purposes.
The suspension will be automatically lifted after the New Year holiday.
He also disclosed that the Labour Sector is co-ordinating with Kuwaiti Career Qualification Organization to test the skills of new people seeking to enter the country to ensure that only qualified and efficient people enter the country.
