Boubyan Island to be developed completely
Plans are on to fully develop the Boubyan Island in Kuwait, a senior official at Ministry of Public Works announced.
According to Dr. Fadhel Safar, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipality Affairs, the southern part of the island would be transformed into a natural reserve.
The Minister affirmed Ministry’s determination to move ahead with the re-construction schemes of the island, and mentioned that it would host laboratories for the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources (PAAF) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), residential districts, harbour roads, entertainment complexes and chalets.
Replying to the question whether Kuwait would resort to United Nations to solve the stance with the Iraqi side alluding to Mubarak Al Kabeer project, he said that this issue is a political affair, and falls under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister, however indicated, identical ventures for development of Failaka Island, another major island in Kuwait, and said that its renovation venture will be on the basis of BOT (Build, operate and transfer) system.
