Kuwait PTB signs deal for Railroad project

Kuwait Partnership Technical Bureau (PTB) has entered into a KD2.49mn contract with a global group to offer consultancy services for Kuwait Railroad project for 16 months.

The project forms a part of the planned Gulf Railway Network project aimed to link the GCC member states together.

According to Adel Al-Romi, the PTB Chairman, the network will link the GCC states to Yemen in the south and Europe in the north. The private sector in Kuwait will play a major role in development of the project. It will be an active participant in mega infrastructure projects. A shareholding company has already been established with the private sector being strategic investor in the project worth more than KD250mn.

The group will conduct a study on linking Kuwaiti harbours to Kuwait International Airport through the railway, so as to realize the economic development plan and to revitalize the trade links with other countries in the region, he added.
