Sponsors falling under code 71 to face stringent actions

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour assured that it will remain committed to its promise to help expatriates under code 71, permitting them to transfer to another sponsor, if required.

As per the latest press statement, the Undersecretary, Mohammad Al-Kandari, revealed the plans by the Ministry to co-ordinate with its interior counterparts to re-consider the situation of expatriates who fall under code 71.

Majority of these workers were unable to take advantage of the Amiri amnesty, and therefore, the Ministry has come forward to take necessary measures to help them legalize their status, he said.

The Ministry no longer tolerate sponsors under code 71, and they will continue to remain black-listed. The Ministry will shortly pass decisions in the interest of workers to protect them from abusive employers, he added.
