Ministries working towards approval of residence transfers

The officials at Immigration General Department, including Ministry of Weather and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour have agreed to permit holders of Article 17, 20, 22 and 24 visas to transfer to Article 18 and 19 visas, and work in commercial and industrial sectors, after applying for the transfer at the labour department.

However, the exact date of implementation of such a decision, and the condition of transfers is yet to be revealed.

The Immigration General Department has ordered the ministry not to handover work permits to applicants until they report at the Immigration department in their particular area. They are required to submit a receipt issued by the ministry, which indicates the name of the applicant, serial number and work permit number. Such a step will help prevent forgery of work permits, the sources revealed.

The officials have also approved several organizational procedures pertaining to expatriate personnel mandating Criminal Evidences Department to seek fingerprint records from the Immigration Department and security approvals from State Security Department.
