Kuwait Ministry approves new pay scales for school teachers

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved new salary scales for school teachers, and has requested the Ministry of Education to begin the pay out procedures.

According to sources, the teachers will be granted a KD240 raise in their May month salaries, and said that the increment will be paid in retroactive effect from the month of March.

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Mudhi Al-Humoud, denied rumours about cancellation of financial benefits for expatriate teachers, and said these benefits will remain unaltered.

When responding to queries about demands of expatriate teachers association, Al-Humoud said that the Ministry deals with one recognized and legal entity, the Kuwait Teachers Society, and emphasized that the efforts to pass on financial benefits for expatriate teachers began in 2009, and that she will continue to insist on getting these benefits approved.

The Minister also revealed that the expatriate teachers will get a housing allowance of KD150, instead of the current KD60, to help them manage the growing housing expenses in Kuwait.
