Airport development projects underway

The Minister of Communication and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and Chairman of Supreme Council for Civil Aviation, Dr Mohammad Al-Busairi emphasized the significance of contract signed on project management services to develop Kuwait International Airport.

Al-Busairi mentioned that the State of Kuwait will witness a stage that focuses on establishing specialized projects that are of benefit to the national economy.

The contract of projects management services aims to execute the projects listed out in the structural five-year plan, under the supervision of the Spanish Company Enco, in co-operation with Kuwait United Development, at a cost of KD10.2mn.

As for the new Terminal2 at the airport, Al-Busairi mentioned that it will cost about KD300 with the capacity to accommodate 25mn passengers annually, in comparison to the previous maximum capacity to hit 8mn passengers annually.

The construction works signed in Freight City, the contract signed few months ago, will be the biggest in the Middle East and will be operational after a year and a half, Al-Busairi said.
