NBK among the safest banks in the world
The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), for the third consecutive year, has been named as the safest bank in Kuwait in 2010, by a leading US-based Global Finance magazine.
The exclusive survey, to be published in the October 2010 issue of the magazine names NBK among the top ten “Safest Banks in the Middle East”.
Saudi Arabia topped the GCC, as the country featuring six safest banks in the Middle East, out of ten in the entire region.
The banks were chosen following a comparison of long-term credit ratings and total assets of the largest banks.
NBK has been ranked as the 38th among the “World’s 50 Safest Banks 2010” in the list. The Bank managed to maintain its last year’s position, surpassing major international Banks, including the Deutsche Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, JP Morgan Chase, and Societe General and Wells Fargo.
The top ten ranked banks will be awarded during a special ceremony to be held during the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington in October.
