KD2bn worth development projects announced in Kuwait
A top Kuwaiti official has announced approval of KD2bn worth fresh development projects, including communications, mail and sewage, worth KD2bn.
The Ministry of Communications has three enterprises pertinent to mail and communication. The Public Works and Health Ministry has sewage and hospital projects, said Adel Al-Roumi, Chief of the technical agency for studying development projects.
The Committee for national projects has also approved several investment projects such as a power plant project, and setting up of new six labour cities are various areas in Kuwait.
Moreover, plans are underway to put out to tender, several other development projects for various ministries and state agencies, he said.
The agency has already qualified un-listed companies to set up the first gas power plant in the country, inline with Kuwait’s national development plan, which surrounds the involvement of private sector in strategic development enterprises. The proposed gas power plant will have a capacity of 1500 megawatts to produce 100mn gallons of desalinated water a day for an investment term of 25 years, he pointed out.
