Kuwait Metro project enters final phase of implementation this year
Spokesman of Kuwaiti Cabinet, Dr. Mohammad Al-Busairi has announced that countrys metro railway project is likely to enter its final phase of implementation by the end of the year.
The higher committee of the build-operate-transfer project has begun inviting tenders from local and foreign firms. This will be reviewed during the coming months.
The metro project aims to help in ending the steadily mounting traffic congestion in Kuwait, and is co-directed by the Kuwait Metro Company, under the supervision on the Ministry of Communications.

The project, apart from easing the traffic congestion problem, also improves quality of life of people by solving daily mobility issues.

The metro will comprise three main lines. The Line 1 will link southern metropolitan area with the centre and main university and will have about 20 well-distributed stops. The Line 2 will feature 25 stations linking the main business district with main residential areas of Salmiya and Hawally. The Line 3 will link the City center to Kuwait International Airport and offer stations at residential areas, Shuwaikh Industrial Zone, featuring 15 stations.
