Transfer of visit visa only for graduates
Transfer of commercial visit visas to residence permits will be limited only until this month-end, revealed a senior labour official in Kuwait.
The Ministry will stop the systematic processing of applications, pertaining to transfer of business visit visas from 1st April, said Mohammad Al-Kandari, the Undersecretary at the Labour ministry, while also adding that henceforth, only foreigners holding university degrees will be permitted for such a transfer.
Earlier, applications were accepted to fulfill the manpower requirements in companies’, but, with the new labour law in force, there will be no exceptions, he confirmed.
Applicants seeking transfer of their business visit visas will have to submit a copy of their university degree to have their applications processed, Al-Kandari said.
Kuwait has launched a massive campaign to reform its labour market, eliminating ‘marginal’ labourers and scrapping the controversial sponsorship system.
The population in Kuwait includes about 2million or more expatriates, majority of whom, are Asian labourers, working in the booming construction sector and as domestic helpers.
