Health Ministry mandates medical check-up for expats
The Ministry of Health has emphasized on subjecting expatriate workers to medical check up and blood analysis to ensure the health safety and security standards of the country.
According to a senior health official in the country, the Health Ministry cannot give up on its right to conduct medical check-ups for incoming labourers.
In response to questions by the press, Yussif al-Nesf, the Undersecretary for public health by the Ministry, said some technical panels of specialized doctors and legal researchers have been formed to check the reliability of certain medical procedures.
For instance, an infectious disease affecting liver is caused by Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). The infection is often asymptomatic. But when established, it could progress to scarring of the liver and advanced scarring (cirrhosis), which gets apparent after years. The HCV is usually spread through blood-to-blood contact.
