Kuwait Ministry includes abolishment of sponsorship system in draft law
New draft labour law will include a government suggestion to abolish sponsorship system, and to establish a non-profit authority to monitor the conditions and status of expatriates, the Social Affairs and Labour Minister has revealed.
The Authority will also be responsible for assessing the requirements of public and private firms and establishments in human resources and will work closely with relevant embassies based on Kuwait’s requirement for foreign workers, said the Minister.
Such proposed changes will also require a separation between labour and social affairs to help establish an independent labour authority that could tackle huge responsibilities, the Minister said in his statement.
