Ministry to mandate proof of bill payment for travel visas
The Ministry of Electricity and Water plans to introduce a new program, under which, expatriate employees will have to submit proof of payment of their bills before leaving for vacations or for other purposes to their home countries. This is being done as a part of the effort to collect water and electricity fees from expatriates, thereby avoiding lapses.
The Ministry emphasized the significance of employers issuing the quittance as part of their employees’ pre-vacation procedures, and added that the new document is a must, and will have to be issued before finalization of any travel visas.
The Ministry has announced its new programme to various government directorates.
