Kuwait government to commence work on Boubyan Port
Aiming to transform Kuwait into an international financial and commercial centre, the Kuwaiti government recently completed plans to implement the project for a new port in Boubyan. The project is hoped to begin soon after the formation of the new government.
According to sources, the new project will match the standards of undertakings such as the Swiss Canal or Aqaba Port in Jordan. The cost of the project will increase by KD250mn, and the government will choose several international companies to lead the project, along with national companies and the Ministry of Public Works, the main supervisor of the project.
The approximate duration for completion of the project would be five to seven years. On completion, the project is hoped to generate significant income for the state. The government is currently choosing international companies for awarding the contracting works for the huge undertaking.
