Jazeera cancels direct services, announces summer discounts
The announcement by Jazeera Airways to cancel direct services to four destinations and stopping its operations to two others, have played spoil-sport in the summer vacation plans of several thousands of residents.
Beginning June, the airline has announced that it will stop services to Cochin and Khartoum. It also announced cancellation of direct services to New Delhi, Mumbai, Sana’a and Salalah. The non-stop services will be continued only via Kuwait.
According to airline officials, the changes in services are due to regulatory changes imposed by the UAE authorities. The regulation restricts the directional 5th freedom of flying that permits an airline to carry traffic between a second and a third country.
Jazeera Airways is a Kuwait-based budget airline, with Dubai as its second hub, operating from Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport.
Several thousands of expatriate residents had booked their tickets with the airline for their summer vacation trips till September. The residents expressed their anguish that the airline had not kept them informed about the cancellations, and that their attempts to receive response from the Kuwait and Dubai call centers had failed.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Jazeera, Steven Greenway, when speaking to Khaleej Times, said that passengers whose flights have been re-routed via Kuwait will receive Dh.100 as voucher which could be used for future bookings on Jazeera.
As for passengers booked on Kochi and Khartoum services, they will receive complete refund, including fees, taxes and charges within 30 days or a free transfer offer to Jazeera flights operating to Cochin and Khartoum before our schedule change on 1st June.
In the meanwhile, Jazeera Airways has announced special hot fares summer offer with discounts. Between 20th and 23rd May, the temperatures are expected to rise to 45 degree centigrade, and passengers can expect savings of up to 45 percent.
One-way fares, including taxes and additional fee will be available from just KD5 from Kuwait, and can be used for travel to few of the hottest destinations including Sharm El Sheikh, Beirut and Larnaca.
