Kuwait Committee reviews sponsorship cancellations
The ninth committee meeting which forms a part of the standing committee regulating employees’ affairs, concluded following several resolutions and vital recommendations. The commercial visits would be excluded from non-academic ones. The meeting also revealed that the studies being carried out about the sponsorship cancellations are entering its final stages of discussions.
Led by Ministry of Works Interim Deputy, Mansour Al-Mansour, it has ruled out that work permits for Pakistani nationals would be issued only for academics or those with special technical qualifications. This does not include work permit transfer.
The meeting also included representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Inteior, both of which demanded limiting Nepalese national employment in the country and opening a Nepali Embassy in Kuwait.
A resolution was passed to limit work permits issued to Nepalese and to issue a five-year residency visa. The meeting required the two ministries to co-ordinate with each other on the matter of absconding complaints that sponsors file against their employers.
