Possibility of a second airport considered in Kuwait
Kuwait may require a second airport to cope with increase in traffic in future, says Dr Fadhil Safar, Minister of State for Municipality and Public Works.
Construction of an airport is also hoped to contribute in fulfilling the vision of H H Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to turn Kuwait into an international, financial and commercial center.
Passengers travelling via Kuwait International Airport grew 6 percent, while the fleet traffic grew 16 percent and cargo by one percent in March 2009, when compared to same period last year.
A statement released by Directorate of Civil Aviation in Kuwait (DGCA) about the number of passengers arriving during the month of March reached 603,009 and the departing travellers touched 296,008.
