Kuwait parliamentary elections scheduled for 16th May
The Kuwaiti Cabinet has announced a decree setting May 16th 2009 as the final date for snap parliamentary elections.
The decree will now be issued by the Emir, who had dissolved the parliament for the third time, following a dispute between the MPs and the government.
The outgoing parliament was elected on 17th May 2008, but lasted only for ten months. It was dissolved following the filing of complaints by the Islamist MPs to quiz the Prime Minister over a variety of allegations.
