The Emir said that this decision has been taken to safeguard the security of the nation and for its stability.
This second dissolution of Parliament within a year, may allow the government to pass a $5bn economic rescue plan, by decree, before the elections. However, a row with the Assembly, may happen any time again, as the Islamists are likely to dominated again.
According to Lawmakers, Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah is likely to appoint his brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah as the new Prime Minister, following the elections.
The Ruler is yet to reveal his plans for premiership and the possible timings for next elections, although according to the Constitution, this should happen in two months time. The Emir, in his speech to the media, mentioned that “regrettable practices (in Parliament)” had damaged the freedom and democracy in Kuwait, and these practices have also ruined the co-operation between legislative and executive authorities and created tension and chaos in the State.
“Everybody should know that, based on my national responsibility, I will not hesitate to take any measure to maintain the stability of the nation, and protect its principles and interest,” he added.
