Kheiran Housing Project on its way towards implementation
The Public Authority of Housing Welfare has contracted a company to implement the Kheiran Housing Project. The contracted company carried out a preliminary survey of the plot, which has been allocated towards construction of prefabricated homes.
This was revealed by Esa Khadadah, the Deputy General Manager for Investment and Private Sector Projects. The authority plans to first float the tender to lay out the main streets in the area within September.
Thereafter, it will begin procedures for circulating tenders to build houses. The authority plans a new residential area, with a capacity to accommodate a population of 600,000. Among this, 218,000 residents will be Kuwaiti nationals, and 96,000 will be domestic helpers.
The number of expatriate workers, particularly bachelors, would be around 250,000. Another 34,000 expatriate families are likely to reside in the area. The new area will create about 130,000 job opportunities.
