Interior Ministry curb issuance of temporary residence permits
The General Immigration Department, affiliated to Interior Ministry, has stopped issuance of temporary residence permit to labourers, under Article 18, which was otherwise granted on expiry of residence permit, thereby permitting labourers to correct their situation in the meantime.
The expatriate labourers were being issued temporary residence permits, which grants one to two months duration for completion of procedures. Each such labourer shall now have to pay KD2 per day after the expiry of residence permit, until the status is corrected (either renewal or transfer of residence permit).
