Kuwait emphasizes on low-cost housing units
The Municipal Council Technical Committee has granted approval for construction of housing complexes for workers and for construction of worker cities.
Adel Al-Kharafi, the Committee Chairman, when speaking during a statement, revealed that the structural plan was discussed by the committee members and efforts by the Society of Engineers have resulted in gaining approval for creation of housing complexes for workers.
In the meanwhile, the Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Development Affairs, Dr. Modhi Al-Hamoud appreciated the decision by the Municipal Council to allocate land for construction of low-budget housing units, considering it as a vital step towards addressing the conditions of Tayma and Sulaibiya residential areas.
In a statement, the Minister said that the new site will offer about 9500 low-cost housing units, while about 6000 such units would be made available in Sulaibiya area. The site and location of the land is suitable to accommodate such residential units, as the location is connected to highways, which enables entry and exit from the areas.
