Dubai chosen as first service destination by Wataniya Airways
New luxury airline, Wataniya Airways, announced Dubai to be its first destination of service. Beginning February 2009, the airline will offer two daily flights to Dubai. Kuwaiti passengers traveling to Dubai can now avail the services of Wataniya Airways.
The announcement came during a recent press conference held at Kuwait’s Royal Terminal – the new luxury departure point for Wataniya Airways services. The ticketing operations and bookings would be open from 24th November. The other contact numbers are 144 or 24379999. The bookings can also be done at www.wataniyaairways.com or through a travel agent.
It is for the first time that any commercial flight in Kuwait is taking off from a location other than Kuwait International Airport. This change in location with Royal Terminal as base of operations has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Wataniya Airways has announced listing of its parent company, Kuwait National Airways, on the Kuwait Stock Exchange on 15th December 2008. It has been awarded with the flight code ‘KW’ by the IATA (International Air Transport Association), which would be used for all its future commencement of operations.
The CEO of Wataniya Airways, George Cooper said that Dubai has been chosen as the ideal first destination, due to the high influx of business and leisure travel into the City.
During the coming weeks, the other destinations to come on stream would be announced by the airline, Cooper added.
