Kuwait plans visa restriction on certain nationalities
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MSAL) in Kuwait, is considering banning of transfer of visit visas of Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian workers into work permits.
According to the ministry officials, the move has been initiated following sharp increase in applications for work permits from workers in these countries.
The official revealed that the ban would be imposed after co-ordination with the Ministry of Interior, which would last for nearly three years.
The immigration department at the Ministry has been requested to enlist all Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian workers who have transferred their visit visas to work permits recently.
The MSAL official criticized the ministry for its failure to prepare a statistical analysis of number of workers from these countries in Kuwait.
