Kuwait all set to unveil new theme park for children
The United Entertainment Tourism Company (UETC), together with The 99, a Teshkeel Media Group Property has come out with a new concept of entertainment for children through creation of a theme park showcasing The 99 characters.
The theme park which showcases the characters from The 99, will be ready and operational starting mid-October 2008. The theme park which is currently under construction in Jahra, will cover and area of 55,000 square meters. It will feature several rides, a reading center, fun booths, and other forms of life-sized replicas of the 99 characters, apart from other entertainments.
The UETC Chairman, Adil Hassan, when speaking during a press conference, said that Kuwait will witness creativity through Teshkeel. When the western world boasts of famous characters such as the Mickey Mouse, Batman and Spiderman, Kuwait will have this kind of creativity embodied in The 99 characters.
Jahra was chosen as the strategic location for the theme park, as the area required development, and people will get more motivated to visit the second city of Kuwait.
“We wanted a destination for everyone, where people can actually enjoy and visit Jahra for leisure. We believe that if it succeeds in Jahra, it will succeed anywhere,” Adil Hassan said.
The 99, apart from being the brainchild of Al-Mutawa, is one of the first superhero comic series in the world, based on Islamic culture and history. It was launched in Kuwait and the MENA region in May 2006, and now enjoys a global distribution.
