Hotel-owners found guilty of tourist visa trading
The Immigration Department in Kuwait, recently introduced an onslaught of four-star hotels involved in trading of tourist visas.
According to the Security officials at the department, the names of these hotels have already been sent by the Director of Research and Follow-up Department Col. Saleh Al-Asfoor to Asst. Undersecretary Maj. Gen. Ahmad Al-Nawaf and the Director of the Immigration Department, Brig. Kamal Al-Awadi, for necessary action.
After long interrogations with the hotel owners, Col. Al-Asfoor revealed that the owners justified their acts, by saying that they were not aware about the prohibition, and instead, laid the blame on mediators who deal with them.
The officials revealed that visitors who entered Kuwait with such visas issued by hotels were arrested. The visitors confessed that they paid KD150-200 each for their visas, apart from 48 hour accommodation in the hotels. Thereafter, they were left free to stay with their relatives or friends.
The officials re-iterated that henceforth all visitors entering Kuwait on visit visas will now be subjected to finger printing on arrival. Several criminals in Kuwait do not have their fingerprints registered at the crime department, which indicates, that they never underwent the fingerprinting procedure due to serious lapse in the system, the officials revealed.
