UK Embassy in Kuwait gaining popularity with new service enhancements
With the several hundreds of locals travelling to near and far destinations, the UK Visa Center is now handling an average of 400 visa applications per day, and 95 percent of these applicants are Kuwaitis, reveals the British Embassy in Kuwait.
The Head of Press and Public Affairs in Embassy of Kuwait, Jonathan Layfield, said -Most direct applications for Kuwaiti passport holders may take a day or two, on a busy day. People no longer wait as they used to do before. People have many opportunities to apply for visas. The Center remains open for six days a week.
Opened in 2007, the Center has introduced the latest in visa processing system for people in Kuwait. The application process includes biometric data verification, with 10 finger scans, and digital photo for all applicants above five years of age.
The website of the center, www.vfs-uk-kw.com, carries detailed information in English and Arabic. Beginning May 2008, the applicants who have made an application for UK visa through the new Visa Application Center (VAC) can track their processing online and receive SMS messages regarding the progress of their application, at a nominal fee.
According to Layfield, outsourcing of visa processing has led to more visas being processed at a quicker pace. On an average the Center processes an average of 150 to 300 applications per day during the off-peak season. The longest visa issued is the 10 year multiple-entry visa.
When introducing the new service enhancements, the British Ambassador to Kuwait, Stuart Laing said “The services offered to visa applicants are continuing to grow and improve. Our VAC is proving to be popular among our customers, due to the longer opening hours and easier access. The online application system Visa4uk is quick and convenient to apply with priority service at the VAC.”
Located in downtown Kuwait City, opposite Central Bank of Kuwait, the UK Visa Application Center in Kuwait is operated by a private company called VFS-Specialist Visa Partner.
