IHG, Bukhamseen Group pact initiates Staybridge Suite properties in Kuwait

The InterContinental Hotel s Group (IHG) and the Bukhamseen Group Holding Company have entered into an agreement to introduce IHGs extended-stay brand to Kuwait.

The signing has prompted the development of two Staybridge Suite properties in Kuwait, with one located in the Salmiya district and another in the Farwaniya airport area.

Staybridge Suites, established in 1997, is an innovative all-suite hotel brand, whose flexible approach together with the domestic environment and traditional hotel services, is expected to cover the gap between conventional hotels and serviced apartments.

Staybridge Suites is likely to appeal to a wide range of travel needs of people, whether local or business travelers in search of ‘homely’ experience while on a holiday, and also to those relocating to the area, in search for temporary housing during household renovations.

The Chief Operating Officer – Middle East and Africa, IHG, said “Building on this success, IHG is bringing in an upscale extended stay brand to the Middle East, we aim to lead the market by establishing new standards and clearly differentiating ourselves from the apartment-style concepts that are currently on the offer.”

He continued “We have a longstanding relationship with the Bukhamseen group, following our co-operation for the launch of Holiday Inn and Crown Plaza brands, and we are happy to partner with them again to introduce Staybridge Suites to the Kuwaiti market.”

Comprising 120 well-appointed suites, the Staybridge Suites Salmiya will be located in one of the prime commercial and residential locality in Kuwait City and is due to be open in November 2009. The property is located in close proximity to major tourist attractions such as the Shaab Leisure Park, Marine Museum, and various other shopping malls and restaurants.

Renowned for its spacious homely layout, the Staybridge Suites will offer its guests the choice between stylish studios, single and double bedroom suites, all with separate living and working areas, and fully equipped kitchens.

Fitted with good wood flooring and modern furnishings, the property offers state-of-the-art entertainment and communications, including the free WiFi, catering to business travelers, in particular. A separate venue helps conducting after-work receptions that are held four nights a week. The living room is complete with open fire, and an outdoor terrace with barbecue. Among the other amenities are the exercise room, guest laundry room, and 24/7 deli-style pantry. As an extension to the existing Crowne Plaza Kuwait, one of the signature hotels in Kuwait, the second Staybridge Suite will open in January 2010 and feature 150 suites, conveniently situated near the Kuwait international Airport, and will be at a walking distance from the business area and major shopping malls and dining outlets.
