Passport renewal facility for citizens to go online shortly
The General Department of Citizenship and Passport Affairs soon plans to launch its online services, so that citizens can now renew their passports online.
The department will co-ordinate with the concerned authorities to safeguard the website from hackers, revealed Brigadier Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf, the General Manager of the department.
The implementation of the project will be spearheaded under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf, the supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs.
The sources have revealed that the citizens should provide accurate information when seeking renewal of passports online. The database will be secured as the website contains sensitive information, such as the names of blacklisted citizens.
GCC nations have agreed to punish citizens who give their passport or citizenship certificates as guarantee for loans obtained from any second party, including car rental companies, commercial establishments and gas stations.
