Interior Ministry introduces two new services in Kuwait
The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has announced introduction of two new services – a Voice Information Service and an online Fine Payment Service, on Sunday.
In the Voice Information System, both residents and citizens can get to know any required information on violations, status of passports, personal sponsorships, driving license, car registration, gun license, residency status and travel ban by dialing 888988. However, for information on travel bans, one will have to contract the Information Systems General Department to obtain a password for the voice service.
This initiative aims to reduce pressure on internal departments and reduce crowds, as citizens and residents are free to call the service and inquire about any transaction before approaching a particular department.
The online Fine Payment Service aims to simplify the process of collecting traffic violations fines. Beginning 2nd March 2008, residents and citizens can log on to the Ministry website www.moi.gov.ku and pay their traffic violation fines, except for some limited violations which cannot be paid online. Only 19 violations out of 297 stipulated by the Traffic Law and its bye laws cannot be paid online. Violators falling under these categories will have to refer to the Traffic Violations Investigation Department.
For all other violations, residents and citizens can pay fines on the websites regardless of the place or the governorate where the violation took place.
The Ministry has requested the residents and citizens to provide their feedback on the two services so as to improve upon or prevent any negative aspect.
