Kuwait records 76,800 housing applications by Q4 of 2007
The number of applications that have been filed for State housing during 2007, has touched 8,800 in number, bringing the total number of applications to 76,800, reports the Public Authority for Housing Care.
According to Subhi Al-Mulla, the Authority Deputy Director General for applications and allotment, processing of 1500 applications was completed and the applicants were allotted housing units in 2007. The official expected 3000 allotments each year, and pointed out that the bulk would be for land plots in Saad Al-Abdullah and Jaber Al-Ahmad cities, while the remaining is for housing units in Al-Nahdha Area.
Rental allowance for Nov’07 touched KD11.5mn, with the numbers directly on the increase, with rise in applications.
In the meanwhile, the Minister of State for Housing and National Assembly Affairs, Abdel Wahed Al-Awadhi, chaired a meeting, which was attended by officials of the Housing Authority, the Kuwait Petroleum Company, as well as electricity and municipal officials.
The object of the meeting was to discuss the issue of land to be provided for low cost housing, the Housing Public Authority, mentioned in a press statement. The meeting participants discussed the possibility of providing land for a low budget housing project, that could be used as a substitute for lots 6 and 7, and for general purposes.
More than 9000 households are expected to benefit from this project, as the entire project would be erected by private sector, under prevailing rules for such projects.
