Ministry assures to look into sponsorship system issues
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour revealed that the ministry has been trying to handle all the negative aspects pertaining to expatriate workers in private sector.
The officials at the Ministry revealed that to address and regulate the issues of expatriates in private sector, including that of domestic servants and maids, a special committee has been formed. The role of this committee would be to execute the decision, once it is brought into effect by the Cabinet.
An official at the Ministry, Jamal Shehab, said that the permanent committee is involved in discussions for implementing alternate solutions to the sponsorship system. He assured that every effort would be made to implement the best method for regulation and organization of matters pertaining to expat workers in private sector.
Jamal added, that the committee had already prepared three studies on alternate solutions to sponsorship system, and on completion, they would be sent to the Cabinet for selecting the best option.
