New rule mandates salary of KD500 or more for visit visas

The General Department for Residency Affairs affiliated to Ministry of Interior has issued fresh regulations concerning visit visas of various types.

According to new regulations, expatriates can apply for visit visas for their parents, provided, their monthly salaries are not less than KD500.

The concerned authorities have the right to determine the duration of their visit, either family visa for 30 days, or tourist visa for duration of 90 days, based on sponsorsí profession and circumstances and the purpose of visit.

As for visa for siblings, expats can apply for family visit visas for them. They will be granted a 30day visa. Extending the duration of visit remains suspend for all types of visit visas.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Residency Affairs, Maj. Gen. Talal Marafi, in his step toward reform, issued a decision to allow members of the family to stay for three months, instead of one month while on visit.

Marafi was briefed about the crowd and pressure people witnessed at the Residency Affairs Departments in all six governorates to extend visit visas, which is valid for just one month, saying the trend affects the system of work in the departments.
