Kuwait Ministry launches new e-driving license system

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) recently launched an e-driving licence system with 100 traffic cameras installed in accordance with state-of-the-art technology. The ministry has also established 20 digital direction boards to serve surveillance and follow-up on roads and intersections, revealed the Public Relations and Security Media Department at the Ministry.

According to a statement made by Mohamoud Al-Dosari, the Undersecretary Lt. Gen., the new system will enable users to log in to the e-gate and open an account to pay traffic fines, renew driving licenses by filling up an electronic form.

The form and content of the new driving license would be changed to be more secured and developed, said the Head of Specialized Training Centre at the Ministry’s traffic sector, Col. Salem Al-Ajmi. He further said that data of motorists in the new system would include information in several languages to use the new license outside Kuwait.

The new electronic driving license is compatible with the standards of international certificate, and it will enable motorists to use the new driving license in majority of the countries that implement the same system.

Al-Dosari also launched 100 cameras that can help in monitoring and following-up traffic and register violations committed by drivers on roads and intersections. Al-Dosari was given a brief about some cameras that were powered by solar energy, which can be moved to various sites to support the fixed cameras. Such cameras and guidelines will help the control room in following traffic congestion and deal efficiently with light signals and register violations, said Yousef Al-Koda, the Head of Operations Department.
